Red Spruce

Features
The wood is particularly resinous and whitish in colour, with slightly darker veins. It is tenuous and light. Its mechanical resistance characteristics are quite similar to those of other conifers; its durability is modest and is hardly impregnable with antiseptics.

Main uses
Wood is used mainly in interior work, woodworking, packaging, flooring, plywood. It is one of the most used woods for the construction of sound boxes for musical instruments, but only one trunk in a thousand is used for this purpose.

Availability
All of Europe from the Pyrenees to Russia. In Italy it is common in the Alps.

450 to 550 Kg / m3.

Uses
Spruce are widely used for reforestation where seedlings grown in nurseries are used.
