RED OAK

Botanical name: Quercus spp. The red oaks grow abundantly in the eastern half of the United States. Several species make up this group. The most important ones are Northern red oak (Quercus rubra), Black oak (Q. velutina), Shumard oak (Q. shumardii), Southern red oak (Q.falcata), Cherrybark oak (Q. falcata var. pagodaefolia), Scarlett oak (Q. coccinea), Pin oak (Q. palustris) and Nuttail oak (Q. nuttalii). Colour and colour variations in Red oak can vary among the producing regions.
